The Svábhegy Water Tower in today’s jigsaw puzzle is in Budapest’s 12th District (Hegyvidék), Hungary, and is described as a historic industrial monument.
The water tower was designed by Dr. Szilárd Zielinski, who is often called “the father of reinforced concrete construction” in Hungary.
The tower was built between 1912 and 1913, and is still in use today. It stands just over 108 feet tall. The water tank at the top is about 20 feet in diameter.
Its main purpose is to stabilize water pressure across the mountainous terrain.
It’s an attraction and is positioned directly along the road leading toward the popular Normafa Park hiking area.
If I ever get to visit Hungary, I’ll be sure to visit this beautiful tower.
OK, on to today’s jigsaw puzzle!
Enjoy!
