I find the concept and practice of building houses on stilts to be interesting, so today’s jigsaw puzzles features some stilt houses.
We do build houses on stilts here in the USA, but instead of wood, we build them on cement, cinder blocks, or bricks.
Of course, the majority of houses built today use concrete slabs, but in all cases, it raises the house up above ground level enough to protect them from moisture, mild flooding and storms.
This makes crawl spaces obsolete. That’s a good thing as I hate having to crawl around in the bug infested underbelly of old houses.
