Jade is is an ornamental stone. The term jade is applied to two different metamorphic rocks that are made up of different silicate minerals.
We collected a lot of jade while living overseas. We have several jade Buddhas, as well as other things including rings, a jade dragon and a jade elephant with another baby jade elephant carved inside.
I remember carrying two jade Buddha statues in wooden boxes in my backpack after visiting the jade market in Hong Kong. These things weigh ten pounds each.
Anyway, I never got to visit Shanghai, so I didn’t get to visit the temple in today’s jigsaw puzzle. I do hope to get there some day.
Until then, this jigsaw puzzle will have to suffice.
