Today’s jigsaw puzzle depicts the historic town of Český Krumlov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.
The town is famously nestled within a sharp, horseshoe-shaped bend of the Vltava River, which creates its distinct peninsula-like layout.
Dominating the skyline on the left is the sprawling Český Krumlov Castle complex, recognizable by its ornate, colorful round tower. (The castle alone would make a great jigsaw puzzle!)
Rising above the dense cluster of historic terracotta-roofed buildings in the center is the prominent Gothic spire of the Church of St. Vitus, completing one of Central Europe’s most picturesque medieval panoramas.
You can see that the entire old town area is designated as a strict pedestrian zone, and cars are generally not allowed. There are several monitored parking lots you can park in, then walk to your destination. It only takes about eight to fifteen minutes from the parking lots to reach any point inside the town.
It looks like a good place to visit. Here’s a 20 minute video with an excellent description of the town, it’s history, and a lot of the things you can see and do if you take a vacation there, which I hope to do one day.
Enjoy!
