Our jigsaw puzzle for today features an armored horse. It’s a bit of an exaggeration of how they would try to protect their horses going into battle in olden days.
They would cover vulnerable places as, first, you don’t want to be riding a big horse when it abruptly falls down to the ground wounded. You could easily be crushed.
Second, they could always find more people willing to ride into battle but horses were hard to come by.
Third, a well armored horse is intimidating and tended to scare the ground troops a bit, hopefully enough for them to throw down their swords and run away.
These days it’s just for decoration such as in horse shows or in replicating famous battles, sort of like they do with the civil war reenactments.
Either say, you still don’t want to get stepped on by a horse, armor or no armor.
