The jigsaw puzzles I’ve been doing lately suggest I need to stop watching the History Channel. I seem to be featuring a lot of historical locations.
In this case, it’s a jigsaw puzzle of the Palma Cathedral, located in the city of Palma, on the island of Mallorca.
I’ve been to Mallorca, back in the 90’s. It’s a beautiful place, mainly known for the pearls produced there.
The cathedral is perched on the edge of the historic old town, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is renowned for its spectacular Levantine Gothic architecture and houses one of the world’s largest Gothic rose windows.
King James I of Aragon commissioned the construction in 1229 after he vowed to honor Saint Mary for surviving a severe storm at sea. It took nearly 400 years to complete.
I didn’t get the chance to tour the cathedral, but I plan to if I ever get back there again.
