Today’s jigsaw puzzle is an eye-catching building called Haus Jocher, and it is located in the mountain town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
It is famous for its colorful exterior paintings, a traditional Alpine art style called Lüftlmalerei (pronounced looft-ul-my-er-eye).
These paintings act like giant outdoor murals, using optical illusions to make flat walls look like they have 3D balconies, pillars, and deep windows.
Built centuries ago, the house originally served as the town hall for the community.
In 1760, it was purchased by a man named Stephan Jocher, which is how the building got its name.
If you look closely at the right side of the house, you can still see his name painted under the window.
The incredible religious and historical scenes you see on the front of the building today were painted in 1926 by an artist named Heinrich Bickel.
He used a special technique where wet plaster absorbs the paint, making the colors vibrant enough to survive harsh mountain winters.
Today, the ground floor is home to a popular family-run shop called Sorge, which sells traditional Bavarian folk art, handmade woodcarvings, and souvenirs to travelers visiting the Alps.
Enjoy and don’t forget to share today’s jigsaw puzzle!
