I saw balloons like the ones in today’s jigsaw puzzle at a fair a few years ago.
You could buy them or win them as prizes.
Now, here’s an interesting story about these kinds of balloons. Years ago I had a job selling pianos and organs at a local mall. One day I saw a kid with a balloon walking by and I asked him where he got it.
He said at the department store at the other end of the mall.
Figuring if I bought a couple and tied them to our demo organ, I might attract a customer or two and make an additional sale, so off to the department store I went and bought two.
They cost me fifty cents each. On the way back to the store an adult with a kid approached me, and asked how much the balloons were. “75 cents” I told him, and he bought one, and I handed him a quarter in change for his dollar.
I hadn’t gone fifty feet before I sold the other one, so I went back to the store and bought four more.
Yep, sold them all before I got back to where I worked.
I finally made it back with two of them, but that started something and I bought a bunch of balloons and a helium tank and talked the mall into letting me set up and sell them on my day off.
(We were closed on Sundays but the mall was open, so that’s what we did on Sundays, until a flower vendor there started selling them and ate into our business.)
Anyway, long story short, before we quit, we started carrying the metal type balloons including some with shapes similar to the ones in today’s jigsaw puzzle.
Enough about my younger days!
Enjoy the puzzles!
