Today’s jigsaw puzzle is of another, slightly younger, sailor out on liberty.
Obviously the setting is a different time – maybe fifty to a hundred years ago, and in a foreign country.
I imagine it’s either during war-time or leading up to a war, judging by the posture of the person seen in the reflection on the door on the left.
I found myself trying to think up a back-story to this picture and what it represents. Did the sailor volunteer to join, or was he drafted?
Do the stripes on his sleeves denote rank, or are they just there for decoration?
What country is the flag from? What is the weather like? Is it cold, or rainy? Is he drinking because he knows he will soon go into battle?
Does he have a family?
OK, my mind has wandered around long enough. Time to put it back into its box and let you get to the jigsaw puzzle!
