Well, it won’t be that long until I can go pick my own apples. As long as I do it at night, while my grouchy old neighbor is asleep, that is. He owns a shotgun filled with rock salt.
Actually, I don’t do that anymore, not since I was a kid.
I do remember this one apple tree in Chautauqua, New York, many, many years ago. I was there one summer taking a class, and the apple tree was in a field between the classroom and my dorm room.
I would pick one every other day or so. They were the best ones ever.
